Climate in Barcelona

Barcelona, the capital of the province of the same name and of Catalonia, stretches along the Mediterranean coast between the Besos and Llobregat rivers, backed by the Collserola ridge. Its climate is coastal Mediterranean, with mild winters and warm, humid summers. The annual average temperature stands at around 16 °C, with summer highs reaching 28-30 °C and winter lows rarely dropping below 5 °C.

Rainfall totals approximately 600 mm per year, peaking sharply in autumn when intense Mediterranean downpours can occur. Barcelona records around 2,500 hours of sunshine annually. The sea breeze moderates summer temperatures, while winter thermal inversións can lead to pollution episodes across the metropolitan area.
