Climate in Cáceres

Cáceres, the capital of the province of the same name in Extremadura, extends over a hill on the Extremaduran peneplain at 459 metres above sea level, in the western interior of the Iberian Península. Its climate is continental Mediterranean, with very hot, dry summers and moderately cold winters. The annual average temperature is around 16 °C, with summer highs that regularly surpass 35 °C and winter lows near 3 °C.

Annual rainfall totals approximately 496 mm, concentrated between October and April. Summer is extremely dry, with virtually no rain between June and August. Cáceres enjoys around 2,800 hours of sunshine annually. Frosts are moderately frequent in winter, though less intense than on the northern meseta. The temperature range is notable, especially in summer, when nights can be relatively cool. Snow is an infrequent event in the city, appearing only every few years.
