Climate in Huesca

Huesca, the capital of the province of the same name in Aragón, lies in the Pyrenean foothills at 488 metres above sea level, in the transition zone between the Ebro plain and the Pyrenees. Its climate is continental Mediterranean, with hot summers and cold winters. The annual average temperature is around 13.5 °C, with summer highs of 32 °C and winter lows that frequently fall below 0 °C.

Annual rainfall totals approximately 480 mm, peaking in spring and autumn. The proximity of the Pyrenees brings occasional snowfall to the city, though snow is far more frequent and abundant in the nearby mountains. Frost days exceed 50 per year. The cierzo, channelled through the Ebro valley, can blow strongly in Huesca, though with less intensity than in Zaragoza. Convective storms in late spring and summer are relatively common, favoured by the Pyrenean orography.
