Climate in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

Las Palmás de Gran Canaria, the capital of the province of the same name and co-capital of the Canary Islands, stretches across the northeast of Gran Canaria island, on the Atlantic shore. Its climate is subtropical desert oceanic, with one of the most stable temperature regimes in the world. The annual average temperature is about 21.2 °C, with summer highs of 27 °C and winter lows of 15 °C. Both daily and seasonal temperature variation is mínimal.

Annual rainfall is scarce, barely 151 mm, concentrated between November and January. Summers are completely dry. Las Palmás enjoys over 2,800 hours of sunshine per year. The northeast trade winds constantly refresh the city, making its summers particularly pleasant. Saharan calima is the most notable weather phenomenon, with episodes that can drastically reduce visibility and raise temperatures. The cold Canary Current contributes to the thermal moderation of the coastline.
