Climate in Logroño

Logroño, the capital of La Rioja, sits on the right bank of the Ebro River at 384 metres above sea level, in a transitional zone between the Cantabrian Mountains to the north and the Ebro depression to the south. Its climate is continental Mediterranean, with hot summers and moderately cold winters. The annual average temperature is around 13.5 °C, with summer highs of 30 °C and winter lows dropping to 2 °C.

Annual rainfall is approximately 400 mm, moderate compared to the north but higher than in Zaragoza, reflecting the climatic transition. Snowfall is occasional, settling on just a few days per year. The Ebro valley channels the cierzo, which here manifests as a cold, dry northwesterly wind that can persist for several consecutive days. The vineyards surrounding the city attest to the favourable agricultural climate.
