Climate in Málaga

Málaga, the capital of the province of the same name in Andalusia, lies on the Mediterranean coast at the foot of the Montes de Málaga, on the shores of the Alborán Sea. Its climate is subtropical Mediterranean, one of the warmest in continental Europe. The annual average temperature reaches 18.5 °C, with hot summers where highs hover around 31 °C and exceptionally mild winters with lows that rarely dip below 8 °C.

Annual rainfall is approximately 524 mm, concentrated between November and February. The city enjoys nearly 3,000 hours of sunshine per year. A characteristic weather phenomenon is the terral, a hot, dry wind from the interior that can push temperatures several degrees above normal, especially in summer. Maritime influence, however, generally keeps conditions moderate.
