Climate in Palma de Mallorca

Palma de Mallorca, the capital of the Balearic Islands, extends along the bay of the same name on the southwest coast of Mallorca, barely above sea level. Its climate is typically Mediterranean, with mild, wet winters and warm, dry summers. The annual average temperature is around 17.5 °C, with summer highs of 31 °C and winter lows that rarely drop below 5 °C.

Annual rainfall totals approximately 449 mm, concentrated between September and February, with a dry summer. Autumn rains can be intense, with gota fría episodes affecting the archipelago. Palma enjoys over 2,750 hours of sunshine per year. The sea breeze regulates summer temperatures, making summers more pleasant than in the penínsular interior. The Serra de Tramuntana, to the northwest of the island, shields the city from cold northerly winds and receives far greater precipitation than the coast where the capital is located.
