Climate in Sevilla

Seville, the capital of the province of the same name and of Andalusia, lies on the alluvial plain of the Guadalquivir River at just 11 metres above sea level. It has a Mediterranean climate with subtropical influence, marked by extremely hot summers and mild winters. The annual average temperature reaches 18.6 °C, and in July and August highs regularly surpass 36 °C, often exceeding 40 °C during heatwaves.

Annual rainfall is around 539 mm, concentrated between October and March, with an essentially dry summer. Seville enjoys approximately 2,900 hours of sunshine per year, making it one of the sunniest cities in Europe. Its position in the Guadalquivir valley traps hot air in summer, which explains its record-setting temperatures on the Iberian Península.
