Province climate

Huelva, the capital of the province of the same name in Andalusia, lies at the confluence of the Tinto and Odiel rivers, beside their estuary on the Gulf of Cádiz, at 54 metres above sea level. Its climate is Mediterranean with Atlantic influence, with mild winters and hot summers tempered by ocean breezes. The annual average temperature is around 18.2 °C, with summer highs of 33 °C and winter lows of about 6 °C.

Annual rainfall totals approximately 490 mm, concentrated between October and March, with a dry summer. Huelva enjoys over 2,900 hours of sunshine per year, ranking among the sunniest cities in Europe. The Atlantic breeze moderates summer heat, keeping maximum temperatures somewhat lower than Seville or Córdoba despite a similar latitude. Frosts are very rare and snow is exceptional. The estuary generates ambient humidity which, combined with the breeze, provides relatively pleasant summer evenings.
