Province climate

Segovia, the capital of the province of the same name in Castilla y León, sits at 1,002 metres above sea level on a rocky outcrop between the Eresma and Clamores rivers, at the foot of the Sierra de Guadarrama. Its climate is mountain continental Mediterranean, with cold winters and mild summers. The annual average temperature is around 12 °C, with summer highs of 29 °C and winter lows that frequently drop below -2 °C.

Annual rainfall totals approximately 466 mm, peaking in spring and autumn. Snow is a relatively frequent occurrence between December and March, and the Sierra de Guadarrama, visible from the city, maintains its white mantle for much of the winter. Frost days exceed 80 per year. The proximity of the sierra provides cool summer evenings, with notable temperature drops at sunset. Fog appears occasionally in the Eresma valley during winter.
