Climate in Guadalajara

Guadalajara, the capital of the province of the same name in Castilla-La Mancha, sits on the central meseta at 685 metres above sea level, beside the Henares River, close to the start of the natural corridor linking Madrid to the Ebro valley. Its climate is continental Mediterranean, with cold winters and hot, dry summers. The annual average temperature is around 13.5 °C, with summer highs of 33 °C and winter lows that frequently drop below 0 °C.

Annual rainfall totals approximately 413 mm, with a very dry summer and peaks in autumn and spring. Frosts are frequent between November and March, exceeding 60 days per year. The proximity to Madrid and the orientation of the Henares valley create a microclimate somewhat cooler than the capital. Summer thunderstorms are common and can bring hail. Fog appears relatively frequently in the Henares valley during winter mornings.
