Climate in Zamora

Zamora, the capital of the province of the same name in Castilla y León, rises on a rocky promontory at 649 metres above sea level on the banks of the Duero River, in the western northern meseta. Its climate is continental Mediterranean, with cold winters and hot, dry summers. The annual average temperature is about 12.8 °C, with summer highs reaching 32 °C and winter lows frequently dropping below 0 °C.

Annual rainfall is scarce, around 365 mm, placing it among the driest capitals in the northern meseta. Frosts are common from November to March. Fog is a very frequent phenomenon in the Duero valley, where winter thermal inversións create persistent fog banks that can last for days. Zamora is the driest provincial capital in the northwestern quadrant of the Iberian Península, with a markedly dry summer.
